I’ve been locked away for these last few weeks (months?) giving Accompl.sh a MAJOR overhaul and it’s ready to be unleashed to the world!
Ready?
Here goes:
Bye, bye locking! The idea of locking your list was a remnant from when I first built the site as a tool for my own new years resolutions. It’s a great exercise, but as time went on I realized it was preventing us from reaching our goals over the course of the year instead of giving us the tools we need to be more awesome. I’m relieved to say, locking is gone and you can start working on your goals the second you add them!
Lists for the super-organized: Now that locking is gone, lists kind of became unnecessary. So they’re gone too! Well, not completely gone… if you’re a little OCD about your goals (I know I am!), you can still organize them into lists with a PLUS account. If you had multiple lists from Accompl.sh Credits, you’ll be grandfathered into the new system.
Goals for all! All goals on Accompl.sh have been public by default from the very beginning. Sharing your goals and getting them out into the world is proven to increase your chances of achieving them. With that in mind, I’ve made the option to make your goals private into a PLUS feature. Again, if you had private goals before, you’re grandfathered in.
PLUS is even better! With all of these new changes, PLUS got a major facelift. PLUS members can have private goals, organize your goals into lists, and set shorter deadlines for your goals, and more! Go on and upgrade!
The list goes on and on… I could keep going, but I won’t! You’ll just have to dive in and try it for yourself!
As you can tell, the main objective in this overhaul is to remove the barriers and fluff between you and reaching your goals. As always, I can’t wait to hear your thoughts / feedback. If there are bugs, you can report them on our GetSatisfaction page.
To being more awesome, one goal at a time!

Today I’m excited to unveil something that I’ve been working on behind the scenes for a while now: Visual Lists!
Visual Lists are a great new way to show off your goals. They strip away all of the extra details that are probably only interesting to you (and maybe your mom) and show off your goals in a whole new way. Have a look:

With Visual Lists everyone can get a quick idea of where your goals stand without having to read every single line of your list. Each block leads right to your goal page where your supporters can get the full scoop on that goal.
You can get to the Visual List for any public list by clicking this new button on the list page:

A List with Personality
There’s one more awesome thing about Visual Lists: They’re customizable! PLUS members have access to a widget that will let you set your list’s colors to suit your fancy.
Visual Lists are available RIGHT NOW! Head over to your list page to get started!

Sometimes you just need a little help from your friends to make progress on your goals. Maybe you have need a running partner? Or maybe you need some help learning how to use that new camera? Now you can ask for help from specific friends on Facebook!
You can post to your friends’ wall by heading to your goal page and clicking the Share With Friends button.

Pick your friends and click the Post button!

And ta-da! Your request will be waiting for your friend on their wall!
(p.s. credit to PatDoesIt for tweeting a request for this button to @accomplsh!)
With everyone raving about and obsessing over Pinterest (myself included!), it felt like Accompl.sh was being left out of all the fun!
Not anymore!
Starting RIGHT NOW you can pin your favorite goals to Pinterest! Just click the “Pin It” button on any public goal on the site (You’ll find the button on the goal page where you add comments, etc.):

That’ll let you share your favorite goals with your friends on Pinterest (and Facebook and Twitter if that’s your style!)

And because every goal on the site is its own unique little snowflake, so are the goals that you share to Pinterest: the colors will change to make your boards nice and bright!
As always, private goals are safe from being shared.
Since this is just an experiment I put together in a few hours, if you guys like it, I’ll spend more time allowing you to customize the appearance of your goals when they’re shared!
So go forth and Pin! And let me know what you think in the comments below!
(P.S. - need a Pinterest invite? Email jenn {at} accompl.sh and I’ll try to get one sent out to you ASAP!)

In honor of Valentine’s week, we’ve sprinkled some hearts around the Explore page, making it easier for you to show your support for other Accompl.sh members! Yay for spreading the love!

And speaking of love! There’s a new Challenge just in time for Valentine’s Day! 52 Love Notes sounds like a great way to win over the hearts of your loved ones, don’t you think?
Have a lovely week!
It’s been a while since Accompl.sh got a design tune-up, but it was worth the wait!
Today we’re starting to roll out a new design - one that feels less cluttered, is mobile-optimized, and most importantly, gets you to the tools you need!

On top of the new design, we’re rolling out a feature that we’ve been working on behind the scenes and that some of you have gotten the chance to test: Daily Goals!

Daily goals lets you identify which goals you need to update every day and puts them in one easy-to-reach place. Once you’ve set your Daily Goals, you can update your progress straight from your Dashboard and we’ll generate an update so that everyone can share in your success on the Explore page. (That’s if your goal is public, of course!)

As always, there’s lots more to come including reminders and more, so stay tuned! In the meantime, we’d love to hear your feedback on these new updates!
Good news! No longer will your inbox be flooded because you joined a popular Challenge!
After seeing how many emails the influx of new Challenge participants generated (I don’t know about you, but my inbox was pretty full with notifications!), I’ve just put together a daily digest email for Challenges.
Once your Challenge has begun, you’ll start to get a digest email once/day that sums up all of the activity in all of your Challenges including progress updates and comments! That’s right: just ONE! email!
If you’d like, you can opt-out of these digest emails on your settings page, but with such a simple way to stay updated on your Challenges, why would you?! :)
We’re reaching that time of year! It’s New Years resolution time!
As the end of the year quickly approaches, more and more lists become New Years Resolution lists - mine included! In fact, it’s why I built Accompl.sh in the first place - I wanted a way to track my own resolutions!
There’s a tiny problem with the system though: I’m generally watching the ball drop on my TV and not sitting at my computer locking my list! And it certainly isn’t the first thing on my mind when I wake up on New Years Day!
This year, to make life easier, I’ve added a special setting to all unlocked lists: You can choose to have your list lock automatically on January 1, 2012!

If you opt in to having your list automatically lock on Jan 1, you’ll have up until then to add, edit, and perfect your list. On Jan 1, any list with more than 10 goals that is opted in will be automagically locked and you’ll get an email reminding you to get started on completing your goals!
It really can’t get any easier!
So go on and start your list. Accompl.sh will handle the rest.
We did it! Kaitycakes just completed goal #30,000!
I’m incredibly proud of how far our little community has come! When I built 101in365 almost 2 years ago it was just a simple tool for me to keep track of my own goals. Now 874 people have completed at least 1 goal using Accompl.sh (which means the average user completes 34 of their goals!) I love watching the checks and progress reports come through every day and I hope you’ve had as much fun as I’ve had so far!
Here’s to the first 30,000, the next 30,000, and who knows, maybe someday, 1,000,000!
You guys rock.
One of the features I most often get requests for is the ability to see some sort of summary of the types of goals in a particular list. With the old tagging system, this was somewhat possible, but really messy. Thanks to the new category system that I posted about this morning, we can finally see what people are listing about!

This new module on the sidebar is basically a filtering system: it shows you the most common categories in that list and when you click on a particular category, it will filter the list to just show you the goals in it!
As more people add their goals to the new category system, I’ll be able to show a lot more interesting things like who the top listers are in the Travel category or who’s making the best progress in Food and Cooking, so go on and organize your goals! It only gets more awesome from here!
